Bolt-on Swivel Lock for 6.25'' x 4.5'' Plate Swivel Casters

Swivel locks turn swivel casters into rigid casters in a snap! This field-installable swivel lock is easily attachable to our 310 Series and 370 Series casters that feature a 6-1/4" x 4-1/2" top plate; it mounts right under the top plate (if adding to an existing cart, it may require you to use a slightly longer bolt to accommodate the thickness addition of the swivel lock). Once installed, simply steer the cart in the direction you want to go, then pull on the ring, twist, and release and the pin will lock into a notch to make it a rigid caster. Pull it back out, twist again, and release and your caster can swivel freely again.

This may not sound that important, but if you have ever pushed a cart with four swivel casters, it is. With one or two rigid casters on a cart, the cart becomes much easier to steer. The ideal application for swivel locks is for carts that need to operate both in long runs and in tight spaces. A four swivel caster cart is great for tight spaces, it can turn on a dime, but pushing it down the hall is tough. Put on the swivel lock and it's good to go for the long push.
